SAP Calculations for Conversions

When converting a building into residential dwellings, ensuring compliance with Building Regulations is crucial. Approved Document L requires a SAP Assessment for a ‘material change of use’ if:

  • An existing non-domestic building is being converted into a residential dwelling.
  • A building is being altered to create new flats where none existed before.
  • A building is being changed to increase or decrease the number of dwellings.
SAP Calculations for Conversions

At Rosier Energy we’re here to help you meet these requirements seamlessly. Our SAP Calculations for Conversions ensure that the CO2 emission rate for each dwelling in your project is no greater than if it had been built to the minimum standards set by Building Regulations Approved Document L.

We bring expertise in cost-effective insulation and energy solutions, offering tailored advice to ensure your conversion project meets regulatory standards while maximising energy efficiency.

What we need from you

To carry out accurate SAP Calculations for Conversions, we will need the following information:

  • Scaled design drawings – including floor plans, elevations, sections, and a site plan.
  • Construction specifications – details of walls, floors, roofs, windows, doors, and insulation..
  • Mechanical and electrical specifications
  • Renewable technologies and any other factors that influence energy use and CO2 emissions.

How the process works

Step One

Design-Stage SAP Calculation: We use this information to perform a SAP Assessment using specialised software, determining if your design complies with Building Regulations. If the initial design falls short we’ll recommend practical, cost-effective improvements such as enhanced insulation, higher performance glazing or heating system enhancements.

The final design is then used to produce the necessary SAP reports for submission to Building Control.

Costs
Conversion of an existing property to a single dwelling from £300
Conversion of an existing property to flats/multiple dwellings from £175 per unit

As-Built SAP Calculation: After construction is completed we’ll update the SAP Assessment to reflect any changes, incorporating the final details of your building services.

We’ll then produce the final SAP Calculations for conversions and issue the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC), which are required by Building Control.

Costs
Conversion of an existing property to a single dwelling from £100
Conversion of an existing property to flats/multiple dwellings from £75 per unit

If you have a project in mind, please send us your drawings, and we’ll provide a bespoke, no-obligation quotation. The cost of a SAP calculation for a conversion can vary depending on the size and complexity of the project.
